on Feb. 9, 1810 during an attempt to repeal two acts which made it a capital crime to steal goods worth five shillings from a shop or property worth
forty shillings from a house. In the autumn of 1810 bills were brought before the House of Commons to repeal the two statutes. The bills passed the
House of Commons but were rejected by the House of Lords.)
