Turner, Reasons for a modification of the act of Anne respecting the delivery of books and copyright, 1813
Reasons for a modification of the act of Anne respecting the delivery of books and copyright: attributed to Sharon Turner and also Edward Christian,
60p., London, Printed by Nichols, Son, and Bentley, 1813. (The Statute of Anne, passed on April 5, 1710, established a copyright term of 14 years with
a provision for renewal for another 14 years. During that period only the author could chose who would publish the work and copies were distributed
to eleven public libraries. The author of this pamphlet argues that copies of each work should be distributed to five public libraries rather than the
eleven libraries required by the statute. Furthermore, he makes a distinction between expensive publications and inexpensive pamphlets. The Statute
of Anne remained in force until the passage of the Copyright Act of 1842.)
