Great Charter of the Forest, Declaring the Liberties of it, 1680
The great charter of the forest declaring the liberties of it. Made at Westminster, the tenth of February, in the ninth year of Henry the Third, anno
Dom. 1224. and confirmed in the eight and twentieth of Edward the First, anno Dom. 1299. With some short observations taken out of the Lord Chief
Justice Coke's fourth Institutes of the courts of the forests. Written for the benefit of the publick: 2+40p., London, Printed for John Kidgell, 1680.
(The Great Charter of the Forest with Edward Coke’s notes is intended as a complement to the Magna Charta confirmed by Edward I in 1297 with Coke’s
notes also printed in 1680 (LLMC 57217). The Charter draws a distinction between a wood and a forest, clarifies when a nobleman may kill a deer in a
forest, and discusses questions of trespass. Notes in the margins cite relevant cases.)
