AE. J. G. Mackay's address titled, "a Sketch of the History of Scots Law," delivered in the university of Edinburgh, and reprinted from the Journal of Jurisprudence. His essay traced the historical causes which have resulted in the form of jurisprudence specific to Scotland. Beginning with King James V of Scotland in 1532, the system of jurisprudence began to develop. The author reviewed the history of the changes throughout the next three hundred fifty years, even quoting from poetry to illustrate the state of the courts and law during some of the earlier times. He also included a discussion of various statutes which reformed versions of the legal system, leading tho the system which existed at the time of the address.
