(A history of the Court of Star-Chamber which existed from the late 15th century to the mid-17th century (c. 1641), and was composed of Privy Councillors and common-law judges. Its function was to supplement the judicial activities of the common-law and equity courts in civil and criminal matters and was established to ensure the fair enforcement of laws. One of the goals with this Court was to ensure that nobles would be brought to justice. However, as time went on, it was felt that the Star Chamber became just one more means of oppression. This volume covers libel cases handled by the court. There are numerous footnotes, but no table of contents or index.)
