Code de procédure civile du Bas Canada—Code of Civil Procedure of Lower Canada: n.a., (19)+t.p.+471p, Ottawa, Malcolm Cameron, Queen’s Pr., 1866.
(English/French on opposing pages. Chap. II of the Consolidated Statutes for Lower Canada mandates the first codification of the Civil Code of that part
of the Province of Canada. Those same commissioners were also charged with updating and revising the Code of Civil procedure. The reports of the
Commissioners relative to the Code, {available elsewhere on this site, see reports 1-7 & 9}, were approved by the Legislature in 1865, and the new Civil
Code (also available on this site) was put into effect by gubernatorial proclamation effective 26 May 1866. The reports of the Commissioners relative to
the Code of Civil Procedure {see reports 8 & 10}received legislative approval in 1966 and became effective upon proclamation by the Governor-General
dated 22 June 1867. In the print copy of this book the authorizing documents are reprinted in the 19 pages preceding the title page. To avoid
confusion on-line, during scanning the title page was moved to the front of those images.)
