title page. Lacks index. These are anonymous letters which appeared from time to time in The London Times. They take a distinctly “local” view, in
opposition to optimistic reports put out by the authorities, the land companies, and “that apostle of misrepresentation and falsehood, Mr. Joseph Hume.”
