provide, within the compass of one convenient volume, both the official documents {acts of parliament, ordinances, proclamations, etc.} relating to Canada‘s
constitutional history; and also relevant letters, speeches and contemporary illustrations. His arrangement is chronological; with the documents
grouped into six periods {1759–63, ‘63–74, ‘74–91, ‘91–1840, ‘40–67, & ‘67–1915}, for each of which he provides a short introductory overview. These,
along with his copious notes within the exemplary Table of Contents {pp. ix–xxxii} provide, in themselves, an excellent brief overview of the whole of
Canadian constitutional history.)
