& Co., 1857. (The first edition of Hill’s work, also offered on this site, was published in three volumes. This second edition compresses three
volumes into two, with Vol. 1 covering all of Vol. 1 and part of Vol. 2 of the first edition, and Vol. 2 covering the remainder of Vol. 2 of the first
edition and all of Vol. 3. Unfortunately, the pagination differs substantially in the two editions, so that users with citations that don’t seem to “hit”
should refer to the “star pagination” provided in the inner margin of each page of the second edition or check the Table of Cases provided at the
front of each volume.)
