Pennsylvania Archives, Second Series, published under direction of Matthew S. Quay, Secretary of the Commonwealth. Edited by John B. Linn and William H. Egle, M.D. Printed by Lane S. Hart, State Printers (Harrisburg 1879-1890). Description based on Vol. 1; names of editors, Secretaries of the Commonwealth and state printers vary in later volumes. This 19-volume set includes variety of archival material, including Revolutionary War records, minutes of the Board of War, journals and diaries, with lists of officers and soldiers, and battalions and militia, 1775-1783; papers relating to the Whiskey Insurrection in Western Pennsylvania, marriage licenses issued prior to 1790 and prior to 1810; papers relating to the colonies of the Delaware, 1614-1682, provincial affairs in Pennsylvania 1682-1750, the French occupation in Western Pennsylvania, muster rolls of the Pennsylvania volunteers in the War of 1812; names of foreigners who took the oath of allegiance to Pennsylvania, 1727-1775, with foreign arrivals, 1786-1808. (At time of writeup, the set included vols. 1-7, 10-11, 13-14 and 18-19.)
