|
|
Doc. No. 91 Special report of the Ohio Canal Fund Commissioners, in reply to a resolution of the Senate, asking for information in regard to the money borrowed for the use of the state. Three Commissioners replied on February 24, 1840. The Senate wanted a complete, detailed report on the money borrowed and how it was used, beginning in 1825. The report gave a history of borrowing, of funds management, and interest paid. It was a big, complicated business during a difficult economic period in the country. On pages 11-34, there were financial statements for each year, including all the projects that benefited. On pages 35-52 were lists of people who held various stock issues.
