Rayner. Resolutions on slavery, 1850
|
|
1859 Resolutions on the subject of slavery, which were submitted by Mr. Raynor in the House of Commons. Noting that the Northern states should not interference with the slave-holding states' "domestic institutions," the resolution called for slaveholders to emigrate to territories, District of Columbia should be allowed to have slaves, and other such affronts to the Southern states. While secession is the last resort, the resolution sought delegates for a future convention should the federal government further erode slave-holding states' right. See LLMC #21676, 21680-81, and 21720 for other related documents. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles originally held by the Library of Congress).
