Commons. Bill regulating appoinment of field officers, 1846
1846 House of Commons bill, along with two amendments, regulating the appointment of field officers of volunteers from the state militia called into
service of the United States. The original bill selected the field officer by elections of all volunteers; the amendments placed the selection in the
hands of the General Assembly and the Governor, respectively. Of note, this was during the Mexican-American War (Apr 25, 1846 – Feb 2, 1848).
