Comm. report on Government of Slaves and Free Persons of Color, 1831
1831 Committee report relating to the government of slaves, free Negroes, and free persons of color, and incendiary publications, per the Governor's
message. The committee examined the "spirit of uneasiness and insubordination" among this group, and recommended that the free black population
should be required to annually give bond for their good behavior. The document is incomplete; a proposed bill at the end is wanting. (Digitized from a
microfilm copy of titles originally held by the University of North Carolina Library at Chapel Hill).
