1850, Senate. Bill concerning free negroes
1850 Senate bill which regulated the migration of free Negroes and mulattoes in the state by land or see but delineating a number of requirements.
The stated goal was to prevent this populations from becoming "parish charges." Included were those who were residents and then left for more than five
days and returned, and those who were migrating into the state. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles originally held by the Library of
Congress).
