House. Comm. on Slavery. Resolutions, 1850
|
|
December 10, 1850 Resolutions from the House Committee on Negro Slavery, which reiterated the wrongs done by the federal government to the slave states, as well as the General Assembly's apprehension that the Fugitive Slave Act would not be enforced. Therefore, the Assembly resolved to tax all articles of merchandise from free states, but suspended same, pending the Assembly's next meeting and determination that the Fugitive Slave Act was being enforced. See LLMC #21676 for the Senate Resolution, which was identical to this one; see also #21681 and 21720 for other related documents.
