1773-12-16, Proceedings at a meeting of the citizens of New-York
December 16, 1773 broadside of the proceeding at numerous meeting of the citizens of New York. During the discussion of the tea and the taxes
imposed on it, as well as and the monopoly on tea by the East India Company, the following was written by the Association of the Sons of Liberty of New
York: "It is essential to the freedom and security of a free people, that no taxes be imposed upon them but by their own consent, of their
