1736-09-28, A word in season, Van Dam v. Clarke
John Peter Zenger's New York September 28, 1736 publication of an article entitled "A Word in Season," regarding the trial of Van Dam v. Clarke. Of
note, the underlying issue was a result of a political fight between Loyalist Gov. Cosby, and after his death, George Clarke, and liberal Rip Van Dam.
Both Clarke and Van Dam claimed the governorship (ultimately Clarke was endorsed in London) (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally
held by the New York Historical Society Library).
