1724-05-23, Drummond. Memorial against seized lands
|
|
May 23, 1724 Memorial of Evan Drummond, a merchant in Glascow, North Britain, to Governor William Burnet. The petitioner asserted that he was being unlawfully evicted from his lands in New Jersey due to the actions of John Roughhead who claimed land had belong to another. Drummond sought damages for this defamation of his title. Also included were two statements by Gov. Burnet to verify Drummond made the statements under oath, and that Brunet had received all the supporting documentation from Drummond.
