debates was prepared from fifty-seven original manuscript volumes in the custody of the Missouri Secretary of State. Because the original manuscript
volumes containing the debates for June 9, 11, 21, 24, 28 and 30 could not be located, the editors substitute a narration comprised of excerpts from the
