“publ. by the Compiler,” 1872, all publ. (Morris was Atty. Gen. of Mississippi. This compilation of criminal cases was mandated by the state legislature
and reprints with annotations “in a condensed and convenient form for reference and use, all the reported criminal cases of value ever reported, from
the first term of the Supreme Court, in June, 1818, to the October term, 1871”. Why, given its official impetus, Morris felt compelled to publish the
work himself, is not explained.)
