Description and Holding Information
1897, Michigan Compiled Laws, Miller
The compiled laws of the State of Michigan, 1897; Compiled and arranged, with a digest of Supreme Court decisions and other annotations, and
published under authority of Acts 268 of 1895 and of 26 of 1897: by Lewis M. Miller, Vol. 1-3 plus index volume, Lansing, Robert Smith, state printer, 1899.
(Despite the compiler’s statement in the preface “that the urgent demand for the new compilation necessitated the utmost expedition in the preparation
and printing,” and his thanks to the commissioners and state printers for cooperating “heartily in the compiler’s effort to expedite the work,” there
is an unexplained gap of fourteen months between the certification of his work by the Code Commissioners and the completion of his preface in Dec.,
1898. Thus, although this compilation was published in 1899, it covers Michigan legislation only up through 1897 Regular Session of the Legislature.)
