House, (Second session) No. 2 Report of the Attorney General on the petition of the Town of Deerfield. Mr. Austin sent his report on September 2,
1835, in answer to a request from the House on April 8, 1835. The Town of Deerfield wanted $237.17 it had paid for the care of a pauper who was also
insane. It was a long sad story, that ended up revolving around whether she was a resident of Deerfield or not and how to view the time frame of her
situation. The Attorney General concluded she was a town pauper without a guardian. If the town could manage her dower property, it could probably
make enough money to keep her and her children. He did not specifically address the $237.17. Pages 20-63 were the correspondence and other documents
