Attorney General. Commonwealth's interest in bridges into the City of Boston, 1835
SEE ALSO 52537 Senate No. 13 The Commonwealth's interest in the bridges and other avenues into the City of Boston, considered in a report made to
the Honorable Senate by the Attorney General of the Commonwealth, January 19, 1835. Boston : Dutton & Wentworth, 1835. On January 12, 1835, the
Senate asked the Attorney General to determine several parameters about the bridges. He reported soon after with a list of seven bridges, three
railroads, five avenues and three public highways and data about them. Even though there was a suit pending before the Supreme Court about the Warren Bridge,
the Attorney General felt that the state's title to that bridge and certain others was clear. He spent the second half of the document laying out all
the possible scenarios for maintaining or not maintaining the toll on the bridges, ending with the one thing so far not addressed--what about the
money that inured to Harvard every year? (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
