An Act additional concerning the redemption of railroad mortgages, 1866. When the foreclosure of a railroad mortgage was completed and a new company formed, that company could vote to assess all interested parties to raise funds to redeem prior mortgages of the filed line. There were directions for how to do the assessment and how to punish the non-compliant. Such money could only be used to redeem an identified prior mortgage.
