SEE ALSO 56583, 56608 Forty-fifth Legislature. Senate. No. 10. The Committee on the Judiciary submitted: An Act relating to hawkers and pedlers
[sic], 1866. No one could travel from place to place by any means whatsoever carrying goods for sale. County Commissioners could license pedlers
within their county with many restrictions and fees. The licensee could not sell jewelry or playing cards and all wares had to be made in Maine. The
licensee had to show his license on request; he was subject to harsh penalties if someone chose to give him a hard time. (Digitized from a microfilm
