Forty-fourth Legislature. House. No. 11. The Committee on the Judiciary submitted: An Act to amend section one of chapter ninety-one of the
Revised Statutes, relating to mortgages of personal property, 1865. A mortgage of personal property was only valid between the parties, unless the property
was held by the mortgagee or the mortgage was recorded with the town clerk. Corporate mortgages had to be recorded. (Digitized from a microfilm
