House. Comm. on the Judiciary. Act to amend Chapter 267 … in relation to the jurisdiction of trial justices, 1865
Forty-fourth Legislature. House. No. 6. On January 19, 1865, the Committee on the Judiciary submitted: An Act to amend chapter two hundred
sixty-seven of the public laws of eighteen sixty-four in relation to the jurisdiction of trial judges, 1865. Actions between parties who lived in the same
county could proceed even if one of the parties lived in the town where court was. If the parties lived in different counties, they could try to be on
the docket in a town of one of the attorneys, but if that didn't work, get on the docket wherever there was an opening. Forty-fourth Legislature.
House. No. 15. On February 1, 1865, the Committee on the Judiciary submitted another version of the bill that tightened the language and emphasized
that trustee actions had to be in the town where the trustee lived. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Maine
Historical Society Library, the Maine State Library, and the Library of Congress).
