Senate. Comm. on Railroads, Ways and Bridges. Act authorizing the further extension of the European and North American Railway, 1864
Forty-third Legislature. Senate. No. 5 The Committee on Railroads, Ways and Bridges submitted: An Act authorizing the further extension of the
European and North American Railway, 1864. The above railroad would contract with the Maine Central for use of its rolling stock. Possible branch lines
were listed. The railroad could contract with Canadian companies, but it had to remain a Maine corporation, with Maine residents as directors. E &
NA had bought the Penobscot Railroad, so it had all the rights and responsibilities of that company. Construction of the two drawbridges over the
Kenduskeag River would follow the plans worked out with the Railroad Commission. The railroad had to be completed to Lincoln in three years or this act
was void. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Maine State Library and the Library of Congress).
