House. Resolves making a conditional grant to Bates College, 1864
Forty-third Legislature. House. No. 3. Resolves making a conditional grant to the president and trustees of Bates College, [1864] Resolved, the
land agent could convey two townships to Bates, providing the College raised $30,000 in three years and invested it to the satisfaction for the Governor
and Council. The land was to be of sufficient quality to generate $20,000. The College would reserve ten full ride scholarships for no more than ten
students at any one time, said students selected by the Governor, with preference to poor children of deceased soldiers. There was an explanation
about the resolves on the last two pages.(Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Maine State Library and the Library of
Congress).
