Description and Holding Information
Joint Select Comm. to Investigate the Affairs of the Land Office. Report, 1863
Forty-second Legislature. House. No. 2. Report of the Joint Select Committee who were instructed by an order of the legislature to "investigate
the affairs of the Land Office," etc., [n.d.] The Committee was looking for savings. The majority thought the office was well run and all who worked
there deserved their rate of pay. The minority thought only one person was needed to run the office and tendered a bill. That report was quite snippy
in tone. An Act defining the salary and compensation of the land agent, 1863. The salary of the land agent would be $1500/year, with no commissions
and no allowance for an assistant. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library of Congress).
