Senate. Comm. on State Lands and State Roads. Act to regulate the scale of logs … 1861
Fortieth Legislature. Senate. No. 17. The Committee on State Lands and State Roads submitted: An Act to regulate the scale of logs on sale thereof
on the Penobscot River and its branches, 1861. The sale of pine, spruce, and hemlock logs was to be by the piece at full scale. The text defined
that measurement; it was different for standing timber. Every scaler had to swear before a local justice of the peace that he would follow the act;
there were fines for not scaling, selling, or purchasing according to the act. Its area of application was defined in section 4. (Digitized from a
microfilm copy of title originally held by the Maine Historical Society Library, the Maine State Library, and the Library of Congress).
