SEE ALSO 56295 Fortieth Legislature. Senate. No. 13. On February 20, 1861, Mr. Miller proposed an amendment to the act designating the
Legislature's meeting place in 1862. He wanted the decision put on the September ballot statewide. If the vote were for Portland, then the Governor would
proceed with the lease arrangement,; if the vote were for Augusta, the Legislature would not move. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally
