to prevent imposition upon town agents appointed to sell intoxicating liquors for medicinal and mechanical purposes, 1861. The Governor was to
contract with a company to furnish intoxicating liquor to all the towns. Once that was in place, the name of the company, a list of available products and
prices would be sent to each local agent who would then order only from that company. The contractor was to keep all sales records and submit them to
the Governor each December.(Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Maine Historical Society Library, the Maine State Library,
and the Library of Congress).
