House. Comm. on the Judiciary. Act in relation to insurance companies, 1861
|
|
Fortieth Legislature. House. No. 49. The Committee on the Judiciary submitted: An Act in relation to insurance companies and actions in contracts of insurance, 1861. No out of state insurance company could evade jurisdiction of Maine's courts or limit the time for filing an action to less than two years. The actions of a local agent were binding on the company and the company could not back out of a contract for mis-statements by an insured unless there had been deliberate fraud. The insured had to provide a detailed report on a loss. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Maine Historical Society Library, the Maine State Library, and the Library of Congress).
