Thirty-sixth Legislature. House. No. 44. An Act to secure the uniform registration of the births, marriages, deaths, and causes of death in the
State of Maine, 1857. All the events were to be recorded with the clerk of the jurisdiction where they occurred. Every January, the clerk was to send
the Secretary of State a record of the information from the previous year. There were directions for listing each event.
The reporters for each
event were listed, the penalties for failure to report, and the fees allowed. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library
