|
|
Thirty-sixth Legislature. House. No. 4. An Act to secure the safety of passengers at railroad crossings, 1857. Wherever two railroads crossed on the same grade, the engineer of an approaching train had to stop within 500' of said crossing, then proceed slowly through it. There was a $100 fine for failure to do this. Blowing the train's whistle was as good as ringing its bell. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library of Congress).
