1857-03-23, Veto message on trial of capital cases
|
|
Thirty-sixth Legislature. House. No. 32. On March 23, 1857, the Governor returned a veto message re An Act to provide for the trial of capital cases, 1857. Apparently, the act removed the right of appeal from such cases. It also called for a court of four justices, which was not a majority of the Supreme Judicial Court; a majority was called for in the Constitution. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library of Congress).
