Project of a New Penal Code for the State of Louisiana by Edward Livingston, a member of the House of Representatives. The treatise was published
originally in 1822 under the authority of the the Louisiana General Assembly; this copy was published in London in 1824. The preface (advertisement) for
this edition suggested that this pamphlet would allow English readers to see how America viewed British institutions. The treatise first discussed
various aspects of criminal law; the proposed criminal code began on page 104.
