Summary of Jury Trials in the Northern District of Ohio, 1982
by M.-Daniel Jacoubovitch & Carl M. Moore, viii+89p, Wash., FJC, May 1982. (Summary jury trials, pioneered by Judge Thomas D. Lambros in Ohio, were
meant to facilitate pre-trial settlement of cases when the most significant bar to settlement is disagreement as to a jury’s likely findings on
liability or damages. Shortened, pre-trail and non-binding jury deliberations were meant to enlighten counsel on that score; possibly leading to settlements.
This eight-month-in study of the Ohio experiment assess its effectiveness in achieving its goals.)
