1777, Harrison & Washington's description of Battle of Brandywine
|

Accounts by General George Washington and Robert Harrison in correspondence dated September 11, 1777 regarding the Battle of Brandywine. Of note,
the Battle of Brandywine Creek was fought between the American army of General George Washington and the British army, which defeated the American Army
and forced them to withdraw toward Philadelphia. The communication indicated losses of both of men and weapons and stated that Marquis de Lafayette
was wounded in the leg during the battle. While the commentary was sobering for the Americans, Washington characterized his forces as in “good
