The United States Environmental Protection Agency legal compilation; Statutes and legislative history, executive orders, regulations, guidelines and reports: n.a., 41 books, Wash., GPO, 1973-74. (The U.S. Government Reorganization Plan No. 3 of 1970 transferred 15 governmental units with their accumulated functions and legal authority to create the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Since only the major laws governing these 15 units were cited in the Plan itself, this publication was compiled and issued by the Agency to serve as a working governance document for the Agency itself and as a research tool for the public. The compilation was issued in four parts, and is arranged on-line in the order of issuance as follows. First came a Main Set of 26 books, published in January 1973, with coverage as follows: Vol. 1, Pts. 1-6, General; Vol. 2, Pts. 1-5, Air; Vol. 3, Pts. 1-7, Water; Vol. 4, Solid Waste; Vol. 5, Pts. 1-3, Pesticides; Vol. 6, Pts. 1-3, Radiation; & Vol. 7, Noise. Later in 1973 a Supplement One to the Main Set was published in five parts. These provided supplementary matter in the following subject areas: Pts. 1-3, Water; Pt. 4, Pesticides; and Pt. 5, Noise. The following year a Supplement Two to the Main Set was published in 9 parts. These provided supplementary matter in the following subject areas: Pts. 1-3, General; Pt. 4, Air; Pts. 5-6, Water, Pt. 7, Solid Waste; Pt. 8, Pesticides; & Pt. 9, Noise. Finally, also in 1974, an Index was issued. This is not so much an index as merely a consolidated table of contents for the Main Set and Supplement 1. The Index does anticipate coverage in an additional area, “International,” but it does not appear that a volume on that topic was ever issued.)
