Senate No. 54 The Committee on Roads and Bridges considered repealing an 1832 law and on March 15, 1833, submitted a report. In 1825, a
Corporation built a bridge over the Merrimack River and had the privilege of toll. A common financial formula calculated when the bridge could pay for itself
and would be possibly toll-free. In March 1832, the Corporation asked for the bridge to be toll free. The Legislature responded favorably, but later
the corporation voted to allow several parcels of land and the people who lived on them and who were related to members of the Corporation, free of
toll forever. Now, the Committee recommended repeal of the 1832 legislation. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the
