Senate. Comm. on State Lands and State Roads. Resolves making appropriation in aid of the construction of the Midford and Princeton Turnpike, 1866
SEE ALSO 56420, 56479, 56483 Forty-fifth Legislature. Senate. No. 5. The Committee on State Lands and State Roads submitted: Resolves making
appropriations in aid of the construction of the Milford and Princeton Turnpike, January 26, 1866. In 1863, the Legislature told the Governor and Land
Agent to select enough land and timber to be sold to net $30,000, which money went into a special fund. The Governor was now authorized, under certain
circumstances, to provide $10,000 to the company and as the road progressed, to provide an additional $10,000. When the turnpike was done, the final
$10,000 would be disbursed. Pages 3-5 was a Statement of Facts, created earlier, that explained the need for the turnpike. (Digitized from a
microfilm copy of title originally held by the Maine Historical Society Library, the Maine State Library, and the Library of Congress).
