SEE ALSO 56599, 56608 Forty-fifth Legislature. House. No. 69. An Act relating to hawkers and pedlers [sic], 1866. No person could travel from town to town in any fashion selling anything. County Commissioners could license a resident to sell within the county, but not jewelry or playing cards--all wares had to be made in Maine. Anyone could make a complaint and basically put the seller out of business.
