SEE ALSO 56493, 56496 Forty-fourth Legislature. House. No. 49. The Somerset delegation considered a change of shire town and submitted: An Act
to change the place of holding the Supreme Judicial Court in the county of Somerset and to change the shire town of Somerset county, 1865. If
Skowhegan provided suitable space for the court and built a jail, the court and its officers would move from Norridgewock to Skowhegan. Sometime between 7
and 20 years in the future, the town would build a courthouse. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Maine Historical
