Forty-fourth Legislature. House. No. 25. The Committee on Agriculture submitted: An Act to tax dogs, 1865. All dogs older than six months had to
be taxed: males $1 and females $3. It was the owner's responsibility to visit the assessor each April to pay the tax. Failure to do so could mean a
