Forty-fourth Legislature. House. No. 24. The Committee on the Judiciary submitted: An Act to amend chapter forty-four of the Revised Statutes
relative to hawkers and pedlers [sic], 1865. County Commissioners could grant licenses to persons who had been five years a citizen of the U.S., a year
a citizen of Maine, and who could provide a certificate of good character. The license was good for one year, with three different fees. (Digitized
from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Maine Historical Society Library, the Maine State Library, and the Library of Congress).
