SEE ALSO 56387 Forty-third Legislature. Senate. No. 16. Amendment proposed by the Committee [on Education] The Land Agent was to sell the timber
from a selected township, with the proceeds (no more than $10,000) going to the Maine Wesleyan Seminary and Female College after the school had raised
$5,000. The Trustees could only use the interest on the money and had to provide five full scholarships for the Governor to award, with preference
to soldiers' orphans. Amendment to the amendment: The Land Agent was to get bids for the timber on half of one township. The proceeds, but only up to
