Forty-third Legislature. House. No. 8. An Act providing bounties for soldiers, 1864. The treasury would pay $300 for each mustered soldier with several limitations. Cities and towns were authorized to tax themselves to raise $25 per man to pay the expenses of enlistment, whatever those were.
